Thanks to the digitized economy, the process for registering a business has become completely online. Now registering a company in India is a simple 4-step process:

Step 1 - Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)

DSC is equivalent to paper certificates that are needed to authenticate your identity electronically The proposed directors and the patron of the Memorandum of Association (MoA) and Articles of Association (AoA) are required to file the forms on the MCA portal. You can obtain DSC from the government-recognized certifying authorities.

Step 2 – Director Identification Number (DIN)

DIN is an 8-digit identification number that is valid for the lifetime and must be obtained by all the proposed directors of a company. It is a mandatory step as the DIN of all the directors along with their names and address proof are required to fill out the company registration form.
This number can be obtained while filling SPICe+ (the company registration form) for a maximum of three directors. Nevertheless, if there are more than three directors then you can appoint the new directors only after the incorporation of the business.

Step 3 – Registration on MCA Portal

Directors of the company are required to register on the MCA portal to gain access to the portal services, including filing e-forms and viewing public documents.
For company name registration, under the Part-A header of the SPICe+ form, you must reserve its name because if by any chance the name is similar to any other existing company under the companies (incorporation rules) 2014, the form will get rejected, and then you have to refile another SPICe+ form.

Step 4 – Certificate of Incorporation

Once you fill the form along with the required documents, the Registrar of Companies will examine the application, and, if it is approved, then at the time of verification, the Certificate of Incorporation of the Company will be issued along with PAN and TAN as allotted by the Income Tax Department.
